Job description

RK&K's Construction Inspection Team is currently hiring aTransportation Construction Inspector Supervisor I or IIto work primarily within the King of Prussia/Phoenixville, PA area. Previous PennDOT experience as a TCIS (supervisor-level inspector) or TCI-3 (lead inspector) is highly preferred. Come join our highly respected Construction Management and Construction Inspection team.

RK&K also hires those with related experiences such as contractor, military, and surveyor experience.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise assigned elements of projects as an owner's representative to ensure contract compliance
  • Assist in communication liaison between field staff, contractor, design team, federal and state agencies, and citizens
  • Review and understand the project plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
  • Provide technical guidance to the client and ensure the final product is quality work
  • Track project schedule and make recommendations
  • Participate in project meetings to include progress meetings and pre-activity meetings
  • Interact and build relationships

Required Skills Experience

One (1) year minimum PennDOT experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI-3) or higher, and has all three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, and NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction.

Or

One (1) year minimum PennDOT experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI-3) or higher and has attained NICET Level III Certification or higher in Highway Construction, and either PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification or NECEPT Field Technician Certification.

Or

Three (3) years minimum PennDOT experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI-3) or higher, and has two (2) of the following three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, or NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction.

Or

Five (5) years minimum transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience and must have all three (3) Certs: PennDOT Concrete Tech., and NECEPT Field Tech., and NICET Level III Certification OR NICET Level IV in Highway Construction, will cover all needed certifications.

Or

Six (6) years minimum of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection supervision/management experience acceptable to the Department.

Or

One (1) year minimum of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection supervision/management experience while employed by PennDOT.

Note:

A Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or an active Professional Engineer's License may be substituted for four (4) years of experience. A PE License can be substituted for all NICET Level Certifications. An Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs.Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
