Job description

CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.

What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our growing team! In this role, you'll work on critical infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, utility systems, and related improvements that directly impact the communities we serve.

What You'll Do:

  • Inspect water and wastewater construction projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, force mains, gravity sewer systems, and water distribution pipelines.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Document daily construction activities through detailed reports, photos, field notes, and project records.
  • Verify that materials, equipment, workmanship, and construction practices meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Observe and document testing activities, including hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, startup and commissioning, and system performance verification.
  • Track quantities, review field measurements, and assist with project documentation and contract administration.
  • Represent the client in the field and serve as a trusted liaison among project stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Construction Managers and project teams to support successful project delivery.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; 
  • 3+ years of construction inspection experience with water/wastewater projects
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and navigate physically demanding construction sites
  • Familiarity with treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, or utility infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection procedures
  • Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

COMPENSATION 

The approximate compensation range for this position is $27/hr - $45/hr. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
