Job description

The Premier Veterinary Group in Mundelein, IL is looking for a full time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care Department!

The primary responsibility is to triage and provide care for patients presenting to and hospitalized in our Emergency and Critical Care Department. The successful candidate embodies our culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.
Schedule:
  • Full time needed
  • 36+ hours per week, either 3 at 12 hours or 4 at 9 hours scheduled
  • Swing and night shifts available
  • Weekends are required
  • Participation in some holiday coverage
Compensation:
  • Competitive hourly pay - dependent on experience and qualifications, range $22-30/hr + depending on experience
  • Applicable shift differentials $5/hr for overnights!
Responsibilities:
  • Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Completing patient daily treatments in a timely manner at key treatment times
  • Assessing hospitalized patients, using intuitive skills as a technician
  • Assisting with flow and organization of Emergency and Critical Care department
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above listed responsibilities satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
Skills and Experience:
  • General nursing care and treatment of patients
  • Administering and monitoring anesthesia
  • Assisting the veterinarian in procedures
  • Admitting and discharging patients
  • Client communication and education
Educational Requirements:
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Several years' experience of related job experience
  • Certification or licensing as a veterinary technician preferred but all skill levels are encouraged to apply!
