Job description

Technology is transforming the energy industry, and this role sits at the center of that transformation. As the Technical Systems Analyst – Enterprise Applications, you'll do more than support software—you'll help shape how our Drilling, Completions, and Production teams operate every day. By partnering with engineers, field personnel, business leaders, and IT professionals, you'll design technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen data quality, and enable smarter, faster decision-making. A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to work directly alongside our Operations teams. Through regular travel to field offices, you'll gain firsthand insight into how our business operates, experience the challenges our teams face, and identify opportunities where technology can make the greatest impact. From driving automation and analytics to implementing innovative capabilities and improving business processes, your work will have a direct impact on how we safely and efficiently develop our assets. If you thrive on solving complex business challenges, enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, and are passionate about using technology to create meaningful business value, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact. You'll be empowered to influence strategy, champion continuous improvement, and help shape the future of our technology landscape and digital operations at SM Energy.

  • Serve as a key liaison between Operations and IT.
  • Travel frequently to field offices and drilling and completions sites to provide hands-on support and guidance to field personnel on the use of Wellview and Siteview.
  • Own the functional roadmap for Peloton WellView, SiteView, and Peloton Frac.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Lead application enhancements, integrations, reporting, and workflow improvements.
  • Champion data governance, quality, and operational reporting.
  • Provide field support, training, and change management.
  • Drive continuous improvement and technology adoption.

Computer/Software Applications

  • Peloton Suite - WellView, SiteView, Peloton Frac
  • SQL, Power BI, Spotfire, Alteryx
  • System integrations, APIs, Master Data Management

Typical Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline preferred (Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration).
  • 3–5+ years supporting upstream oil & gas operations, with direct exposure to drilling and completions operations.
  • Experience with Peloton applications and business analysis.
  • Proficiency in data extraction and analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Spotfire, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
