Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Head of Security will assess the campus holistically to ensure a secure and safe environment for guests, artists, and employees. The Head of Security will provide security recommendations for every area of the Peace Center where potential issues may occur. This position will also lead, motivate, evaluate, and develop the security team to uphold the Peace Center?s commitment to guest safety and service.

The Head of Security will be responsible for scheduling and supervising the security team to ensure the safety of artists and guests during all events on the Peace Center campus. Security is scheduled according to the event calendar and assigned by location, including all areas of the Concert Hall, Gunter Theatre, Pavilion Stage, Genevieve?s, Huguenot Loft, and new venues, the Mockingbird and The Coach Factory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate security officers, SLED- certified security personnel, and stage door security staff.
  • Conduct regular risk management assessments for the Peace Center campus.
  • Act as the Peace Center?s subject matter expert on all physical and personal safety issues.
  • Monitor and reasonably control guest behavior to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Monitor and control access to stage, backstage and loading dock areas.
  • Direct truck and bus traffic and parking for event load-ins.
  • Assist with traffic flow and crowd management campus wide.
  • Conduct post-event facility sweeps to ensure areas have been vacated appropriately.
  • Develop and conduct security and safety training sessions for security personnel.
  • Oversee all aspects of the security contracts, as it pertains to Standard Operating Procedures for the Security Department, develop post orders, appropriate staffing numbers, scheduling and budget.
  • Manage scheduling and payroll for the security team.
  • Supervise evening and weekend performances.
  • Ensure post-event reports are filled out.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures of the Peace Center and policies of the City of Greenville.
  • Coordinate and liaise with Greenville public safety partners to maintain positive relationships between law enforcement and the Peace Center.
  • Serve as the direct point of contact between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Monitor communications from relevant government agencies to anticipate potential business disruptions from specific or non-specific threats.
  • Create standard operating procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure all officers are properly registered with SLED.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
