A patient care technician (PCT) is a trained member of a health care team working alongside doctors and nurses to assist and care for a patient in a medical setting. They provide support services to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, rehab facilities and clinics. While specific duties will vary by patient and facility, a PCT may take patient vitals, draw blood, and tend to the needs of a patient in a medical setting with bathing, feeding, and supplies. Like HUC, they assist with the paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly, which also helps patients receive the best care possible.
So, even though PCTs don't wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health.
Education:You'll need a high school diploma or GED.
