Job description

Our client, a family owned & reputable Home Care agency, with multiple offices in Massachusetts, is seeking compassionate, competent & dependable Personal Care Assistants to support their continued growth. 



PRN, Part Time, & Full Time opportunities available immediately.




QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an approved State of Massachusetts PCA training program or HMK/Home Health Aide training program in accordance with the State of Massachusetts.
  • A Homemaker-Home Health Aide in another state or territory of the United States may be deemed to have completed a training program as required by the State of Massachusetts provided the Home Health Care Agency has sufficient documentation in accordance with the provider agreement, WestMass Elder Care.
  • Exhibits maturity, flexibility and ability to plan and organize activities, has evidence of a physical exam indicating He/She is free of communicable diseases.
  • Attend Six (6) hours of In-Services per Calendar Year including
  • Mandatory In-services.



Work Environment: 

Field work in client homes. Minimal office work is required.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the PCA include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The PCA is expected to work cooperatively with the family member, the agency supervisor and any other individuals involved with the Client.
  • The PCA does not act on advice from neighbors or distant relatives.
  • The work of the PCA is discussed only with those persons responsible for the well-being of the Client.
  • The PCA is expected to follow instructions, be conscientious and take pride in His/Her work.
  • The PCA informs the Supervisor of unusual incidents or events of a significant change in the Client's condition.



WORK CHARACTERISTICS:

May require heavy lifting, extensive bending and standing, visual, hearing ability sufficient to comprehend, written/verbal communication, able to deal with a variety of personalities.



Personal Care Assistant/PCA Essential Functions:

The essential functions of the PCA include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Client In/Out of bed.
  • Ambulating/Safe Transfers and Techniques.
  • Toileting/Elimination/Bed pans/Must empty all Commodes.
  • Grooming.
  • Adequate Nutrition and Fluid intake.
  • Bathing/Showering/Sponge Bathing.
  • Shampoo/Hair combing.
  • Oral Hygiene/Denture care.
  • Dressing/Undressing.
  • PCA's can only shave with electric shavers and must empty contents.
  • Foot care/PCA's Do Not cut toenails or fingernails.
  • I Under NO circumstance are Clients allowed in a PCA's car.
  • Performs Normal Household Services essential to Health Care at Home, Including Shopping, Meal Preparation, Laundry and House keeping duties.
  • Maintain a Clean, Safe and Healthy Environment.
  • Record ADL activities of the Client and the Client care provided on The (PCA Activity sheet).
  • Report any changes in the Clients condition to the Primary Care Nurse or Supervisor.
