Position Summary

The PBX Operator is responsible for supporting the hospital by operating the PBX switchboard. PBX Operators efficiently answer, screen and transfer all incoming and outgoing calls to appropriate locations. Operators also monitor emergency alarms, provide assistance during code situations and activate the emergency notification system Everbridge when directed.

Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 536-bed acute care hospital spanning 30 acres, employing over 1,700 employees, 700 physicians and serving southern Palm Beach County for over 40 years. As both a community hospital and state-designated Level I Trauma Center, Delray Medical Center offers several specialized services including advanced cardiac and vascular facilities, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care and weight-loss surgery. Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital at Delray Medical Center is the only state designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in the county by the State of Florida. EDUCATION

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Post High School vocational/specialized training.

EXPERIENCE

  • Six (6) months to (3) three years experience as a PBX Operator preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

  • None

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clear, concise speaking ability; able to handle stressful situations; knowledge of computer use.
