GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs skilled technical work and calculations necessary to process payroll, leave, and benefits accurately and timely. Provide customer service and maintain records required to satisfy all statutory regulations in regards to payroll processing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
~ Review personnel actions entered into the payroll system for correctness
~ Gather all time files. Accurately code, using complicated calculations; efficiently key; prepare time system uploads when necessary; and, verify that all time files are entered accurately and in compliance with FLSA and organizational policies.
~ Review payroll vendor reports for updates, make adjustments in the system as needed, make any payments that are required and perform reconciliations from the payroll system to those reports
~ Responsible for timely communication to departments of accurate payroll related information
~ Works closely with Human Resources personnel to verify the accuracy of data
~ Answers telephone inquiries from employees, human resource departments, and administration on payroll related issues and the public concerning verifications of employment
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by business school or college level courses or training in Payroll and HR related procedures.
Experience:
Required: Two or more years of progressively responsible experience maintaining fiscal or related records preferably in payroll operations
Certifications/Licenses:
None required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of methods and procedures used in preparing payrolls and record keeping. Ability to interpret payroll and benefit policies and procedures. Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports. Ability to use good judgment in the application of detailed procedures to work situations. Ability to maintain and organize detailed reports. Skill in the operation of a variety of office equipment including a personal computer and other information processing equipment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to adapt to change. Ability to work efficiently in Excel and Word.
