The Salaried Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of payroll operations across AWC. This role is responsible for administering semi-monthly payroll processes, supporting retirement and employee administration activities, and ensuring employees receive timely and accurate payroll support. By combining precision, accountability, and strong customer service, this position directly supports employee experience, operational efficiency, and compliance across the organization.
How you'll make an impact:
Payroll Administration & Processing
  • Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and timely for salaried employees
  • Serve as backup for biweekly payroll processing
  • Support quarterly bonus payroll processing and related auditing activities
  • Perform payroll auditing and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, and earnings information within UKG
  • Assist with year-end payroll administration activities, including W-2 preparation support and reconciliation
  • Process employee terminations and payroll-related updates in UKG
  • Support payroll tax filing and compliance requirements

Retirement & Benefits Administration
  • Support 401(k) reconciliation and retirement plan administration activities
  • Assist with 401(k) loan administration and employee inquiries
  • Support retirement plan audits, including 401(k) and ESOP audit preparation
  • Provide backup support for benefits administration and open enrollment activities
  • Assist employees with payroll and benefit-related questions and issues resolution

Employee Data & HR Systems Support
  • Maintain accurate employee documentation and payroll records
  • Update and audit employee profiles and payroll data within HRIS systems
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with internal controls and company policies
  • Support payroll-related reporting and workforce data requests
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll processes and systems

Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws, regulations, and internal company policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to payroll and employee data
  • Assist with documentation and reporting requirements tied to payroll and retirement plans

Skills you'll need:
  • 5-10+ years of payroll administration experience with multi-state payroll processing, payroll auditing, HRIS/payroll systems administration, retirement plan support, and employee payroll support
  • Experience processing semi-monthly payroll and working within UKG or similar HRIS/payroll systems
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, payroll taxes, wage and hour compliance, and audit readiness
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage payroll deadlines and prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to professionally support employees and leaders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion
  • Strong proficiency in payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and HRIS platforms
