Education

3-5 years of experience processing in-house payroll for construction contractor

Experience

Experience with full-cycle payroll processing

Experience processing and reporting certified payroll

Experience with job cost processing

Experience with payroll tax reporting

Skills

Strong knowledge of payroll laws and federal and state regulations

Good understanding of accounting systems

Proficiency across MS Office Suite

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

High level of attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and deliver on commitments and deadlines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities/Duties

Process and ensure accuracy in all phases of the weekly payroll processing cycle

Review electronically entered time for field employees after approved and upload to QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions

Verify overtime hours are classified correctly

Communicate with Supervisors and employees regarding timesheet corrections and make necessary changes

Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance

Upload payroll file to bank for direct deposits

Print and distribute payroll checks and direct deposit stubs

Manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately

Utilize payroll checklist

Upload appropriate 401(k) deferrals and company match to 401(k) record keeper portal

Prepare and timely file various weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns

Prepare and file year-end W-2 forms

Respond to employee payroll-related questions in a professional and timely manner

Prepare and submit, utilizing online reporting platforms, certified payroll reports in compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, state prevailing wage laws, and other regulatory requirements

Assist with onboarding and offboarding

Complete new employee setups and terminations in all applicable systems

Maintain employee records, deductions, timekeeping data, PTO balances and new hire payroll setup

Prepare and submit information for employee access to secure sites
