Job Summary

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation, maintaining payroll records, and supporting compliance with applicable regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage full-cycle payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees
  • Coordinate payroll activities with internal teams and external providers
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll calculations, including taxes, benefits, and deductions
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, journal entries, and month-end close activities
  • Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures
  • Act as administrator for corporate expense programs (e.g., charge cards, fuel accounts)
  • Lead audits related to retirement and benefit plans, including coordination with external auditors and completion of required filings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Support tax filings, including payroll taxes and applicable reporting requirements
  • Review and approve employee expense reports for compliance and reimbursement
  • Maintain vendor records and support annual reporting requirements (e.g., 1099s)
  • Partner with HR to ensure timely and accurate payroll data entry
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on payroll processes and best practices
  • Support budgeting activities related to headcount, wages, and payroll expenses


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 6+ years of payroll or related experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, compliance, and reporting
  • Experience working with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, SAP) and Microsoft Office
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines independently


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory filings
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and employment laws
  • Professional certifications or notary designation (a plus)
