Job description

The payroll manager is hands-on and expected to run day-to-day payroll operations. This position supports new and existing payroll systems, manages vendor contracts and relationships, drives process standardization, automation, and improvement to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness. This role is part of the Finance Team and reports into Shared Services.
Primary Position Tasks:
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll processing utilizing payroll and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now and Workday) and soon to be using UKG
  • Provide leadership development to direct report(s) to optimize operational excellence and create experienced talent
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HR, Accounting, and FP&A teams throughout the payroll cycle
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and payroll tax regulations, working knowledge of payroll best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Function as a strategic partner and contribute process improvement for system implementations/upgrades
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and audits to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare weekly/monthly/yearly reports and compare the tax reports being prepared by the outside provider to the various state returns and make sure they tie out, etc.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing with all levels across the organization
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and deliver insightful, practical, and sustainable solutions
  • Maintain an eye for detail; demonstrate accuracy, and exercise confidentiality & neutrality in complex and sensitive situations
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in business/accounting or equivalent
  • FPC designation (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
  • At least 3-5years of experience with payroll systems and proven management/supervisory skills

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Experience with ADP Workforce NOW and Workday
  • CPP designation
  • Experience with managing a remote team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess competency in: payroll processing, employee relations, compliance knowledge, discretion, written and verbal communications, Payroll and Tax technical expertise'
