We are seeking a Payroll Manager to lead multi-state, union, and prevailing wage payroll operations while ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role oversees payroll accounting, payroll tax compliance, general ledger reconciliations, and union contract compliance, while providing leadership, coaching, and daily support to the payroll team.

To thrive/succeed as the Payroll Manager, you should have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent payroll management experience.
  • 8+ years of multi-state payroll administration and payroll tax expertise, including compliance with federal, state, local, union, and prevailing wage requirements.
  • CPP certification required or willing to obtain within 1 year of employment
  • Proven experience leading payroll teams and driving accuracy, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, accounting platforms, and timekeeping solutions such as Workday, UKG, ADP, and related technologies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage deadlines, cross-functional projects, and confidential information.
  • Prior experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is a plus.
Your responsibilities as the Payroll Manager, will include:
  • Oversee multi-state bi-weekly payroll operations for union, non-union, and prevailing wage employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Partner with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), and internal stakeholders to optimize payroll and HR services, processes, systems, and vendor relationships.
  • Develop, maintain, and audit payroll policies, procedures, and end-to-end processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team while providing guidance, training, and support to ensure operational excellence.
  • Manage payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, commissions, bonuses, and compliance documentation while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
