About the Company
Our client is a well-established and growing organization in the Suffern, NY area seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of payroll operations. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team and take ownership of a critical function within the organization.

Position Overview
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role will also focus on process improvements, system optimization, and maintaining strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle payroll processing (weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly) for multi-state employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Manage payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s)
  • Review and approve payroll reports, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain and improve payroll systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Partner with HR on employee data changes, benefits deductions, and compliance matters
  • Handle payroll audits and respond to internal/external audit requests
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff (if applicable)
  • Stay current on payroll legislation and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including management or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing and compliance
  • Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications
