Job description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations in a fast-paced environment. This role will be responsible for managing full-cycle payroll processes, optimizing payroll systems, and partnering with HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure an exceptional employee payroll experience. The ideal candidate will have strong UKG Pro experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage payroll operations while driving process improvements. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle payroll processing, including weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles for multi-state employee populations. Serve as the subject matter expert for UKG Pro Payroll, including system configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, audits, and process improvements. Partner with HRIS, Benefits, Finance, and IT teams to ensure accurate employee data, payroll integrations, and system functionality. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including wage and hour requirements, tax filings, and reporting obligations. Oversee payroll reconciliations, payroll audits, general ledger reporting, and resolution of discrepancies. Manage payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers, providing timely and customer-focused support. Coordinate with Benefits and Compensation teams on deductions, bonuses, commissions, incentives, and other payroll-related transactions. Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, corrections, and tax reporting. Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency. Analyze payroll processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous improvement. Partner on UKG Pro enhancements, upgrades, testing, and implementation initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent payroll experience. 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll management or leadership responsibilities. Hands-on experience with UKG Pro Payroll (UltiPro) required. Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, payroll taxes, compliance, and reporting. Experience managing payroll systems, integrations, and HRIS data flows. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Experience in high-volume payroll environments preferred. Preferred Experience UKG Pro Payroll implementation or optimization experience. Experience supporting payroll for 1,000+ employees. Union payroll experience. ADP Workforce Now, Workday, Kronos, or other HRIS/payroll system experience. CPP certification preferred.
