Position SummaryThe Payroll Assistant supports the payroll operations of Campbell Business Solutions, LLC and its clients by assisting with payroll preparation, employee data entry, documentation, recordkeeping, and other payroll-related administrative tasks.This entry-level position is designed for an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented individual who is interested in developing skills in payroll, bookkeeping, and accounting operations.The Payroll Assistant will work under the guidance of experienced payroll and accounting team members to help ensure payroll information is complete, accurate, organized, and submitted according to established deadlines.Core Responsibilities - Payroll AssistantAssist with preparing weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, and monthly client payrolls.Collect and organize employee hours, payroll changes, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll information.Enter payroll and employee information into payroll systems under established procedures.Assist with reviewing timesheets and payroll documentation for missing or inconsistent information.Maintain organized digital payroll files and supporting documentation.Assist with entering new hires, terminations, direct deposit information, deductions, and employee payroll changes.Maintain payroll calendars, checklists, and processing deadlines.Prepare payroll reports and supporting documentation for review.Assist with basic payroll reconciliations and research discrepancies as directed.Communicate with team members regarding missing payroll information and documentation.Assist with client payroll communications under the direction of senior team members.Support quarterly and year-end payroll documentation and reporting processes.Maintain confidentiality of employee, client, payroll, tax, and financial information.Follow established payroll procedures, checklists, and quality-control requirements.Provide administrative support to the payroll, bookkeeping, and accounting teams as needed.Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.Required QualificationsStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Ability to follow established procedures and meet deadlines.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or willingness to develop proficiency.Basic spreadsheet and data-entry skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.Strong willingness to learn payroll and accounting processes.Ability to accept feedback and make corrections when necessary.Dependable and professional work habits.Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining communication with the team.Preferred QualificationsPrevious administrative, payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, or customer service experience.Experience with Microsoft Excel.Familiarity with payroll or accounting software.Basic understanding of payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting concepts.Experience handling confidential employee or financial information.Coursework, training, or certification related to payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, or business administration is a plus.Growth PathThe Payroll Assistant position is designed as an entry point into payroll and accounting operations.As the employee demonstrates accuracy, reliability, knowledge of payroll processes, and the ability to independently complete payroll responsibilities, they may progress to the Payroll Specialist position.  Typical progression may include:  Payroll Assistant → Payroll Specialist → Senior Payroll SpecialistAdvancement may include responsibility for independently processing client payrolls, resolving payroll discrepancies, performing reconciliations, communicating directly with clients, and handling increasingly complex payroll requirements.  Responsibilities, compensation, and title may be updated as skills, experience, and performance develop.Location: Baton Rouge, LADepartment: Payroll / Accounting OperationsEmployment Type: Full-Time, RemoteMinimum Experience: Entry LevelCompensation: $18–$22 Hourly DOE
