Daikin Applied is hiring a Payroll Manager! The Payroll Manager manages and provides oversight for the end-to-end payroll processes for US, Canada, and Expat payrolls ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. Under general direction, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll operations ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal and provincial payroll tax laws and regulations, management of the payroll staff and the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures. What you will do:

  • Manage and oversee the processing of weekly and bi-weekly pay groups in Workday for 5,000+ union and non-union employees
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, provincial and federal payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Provide oversight to 3rd party vendor for Canada payroll processing, payroll tax filing and garnishment processing as well as providing oversight for Certified Payroll Reporting
  • Support SR Payroll Analyst in accurate and timely submission of payroll taxes and quarterly and year-end tax reporting including W-2's, T-4's, and RL-1's
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop payroll team members including providing guidance, training and performance management to Payroll Administrators
  • Partner with cross-functional teams in the creation of Workday requirements for configuration of payroll, absence, and time-tracking as well as performing testing in Workday for updates to payroll, absence, and time tracking
  • Lead process mapping, SOP creation for payroll processes and manage business continuity planning for payroll
  • Provide payroll support for M&A activities
  • Recommend and support the implementation of enhancements to the payroll system, processes and internal controls to ensure accuracy and manage risk as well as partnering with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and operational efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of payroll experience including experience in processing payroll for unions
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and tools (ADP, Workday, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance in both the US and Canada, including tax laws, FLSA, deductions, and reporting requirements
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information and demonstrate a high level of integrity
  • Strong collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, HRIS and Finance
  • Solid leadership skills with employee management experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional or Payroll Compliance Practitioner
  • Global payroll management
  • Workday experience with payroll, absence and time tracking

The range for all positions in this salary grade is $90,000 to $153,300 + 10% bonus in MN. Target base salary is between 120k and 128k. Individual pay rate will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
