Job description

Our mission: eliminating every barrier to mental health.

Spring Health is a global mental health company on a mission to eliminate every barrier to mental health. We're building a world where getting support is simple, personal, and built around the person, so care can continue through every job, move, health plan, and life stage.
Our AI-native platform helps us deliver personalized support across self-guided tools, coaching, therapy, medication management, and specialty care. With outcomes independently validated by JAMA Network Open and the Validation Institute, Spring Health reaches more than 170 million people worldwide through leading employers, health plans, and partners.
As an AI-native company, we believe technology should expand the reach, quality, and humanity of care. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission.

Spring Health is actively seeking a Senior Specialist, Payroll to join our team. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Global Payroll and partnering closely with the Total Rewards & People Operations team, the Senior Administrator will manage the day-to-day execution, accuracy, and compliance of our domestic payroll operations. This is a full-time, remote, temporary position on our team. This position will be hired on a 3 month term with the possibility of extension or conversion.

What you'll do

  • Manage and execute the end-to-end processing of multi-state semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll runs to ensure total accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Audit and reconcile all payroll-related inputs, including wages, deductions, tax entries, contributions, and time and attendance data entries.
  • Partner cross-functionally with People Operations to coordinate employee lifecycle changes, leaves of absence data, and benefits deductions that impact payroll processing.
  • Handle the registration and tax compliance setup for multiple state and local tax jurisdictions to keep all employer accounts in good standing.
  • Review, analyze, and update internal payroll tax procedures to proactively mitigate operational risks and compliance exceptions.
  • Support year-end operations, payroll tax filing verifications, and the structured preparation of annual employer reporting statements.
  • Conduct routine audits of benefit plan payroll deductions and carrier invoices to maintain system data alignment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, providing clear, empathetic, and timely resolutions to payroll questions.
  • Collaborate on payroll system workflows, utilizing automation to reduce manual data tracking and enhance operational speed.
  • Compile and deliver detailed payroll reporting insights to support internal compliance documentation and financial reconciliation tracking.

What success looks like in this role:

  • Execute all scheduled payroll cycles with zero material errors to ensure timely and precise employee compensation.
  • Resolve employee payroll inquiries and support tickets within agreed-upon internal service level timeframes to maintain high internal service satisfaction.
  • Consistently deliver reconciled monthly payroll data inputs ahead of financial close deadlines to support accurate cross-departmental reporting.
  • Complete payroll tax account audits and state agency notice responses on time to prevent penalties or regulatory compliance backlog.
  • Modernize payroll tracking routines by decreasing the volume of manual spreadsheet interventions through automated system configurations.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of dedicated payroll administration experience handling multi-state tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal wage-and-hour laws, payroll tax guidelines, and statutory regulations.
  • Direct experience managing payroll systems and navigating software infrastructure to support data updates.
  • Strong technical capability in data verification tools, standard formulas, and compiling accurate pivot tables.
  • Proven analytical capacity to audit complex datasets, diagnose payroll friction points, and isolate data errors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a history of maintaining strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive compensation records.

Nice to have:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation.
  • Prior experience managing specialized equity compensation payrolls or working alongside international employer-of-record models.

The target base salary range for this position is $129,780 - $130,000. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
