About the Role

The Account Manager, Payor Partnerships is responsible for growing SonderMind\'s most important payor relationships. This is a strategic account management role: the contract is the starting point, and your job is everything that comes after. You\'ll serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of payor partners, demonstrating the value SonderMind delivers, expanding our footprint within each account, and partnering with payors to drive their members to utilize SonderMind\'s services.

Reporting to the Director of Payor Integrations, you\'ll operate as a trusted advisor to payor executives and a growth driver for SonderMind, identifying opportunities to deepen partnerships well beyond the initial agreement. You\'ll work closely with our Payor Contracting team, bringing partnership insights and a demonstrated value story to the table that strengthens SonderMind\'s position in renewals and new agreements.

This role requires executive presence, commercial instincts, and the ability to translate clinical outcomes and utilization data into a compelling value story. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder who thinks like an owner and is motivated by improving access and outcomes in mental health.

What You\'ll Do
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of payor partners. Own the day-to-day relationship and the executive-level connection, leading regular business reviews and Joint Operating Committees that position SonderMind as an indispensable partner

  • Demonstrate SonderMind\'s value. Build and deliver the ROI story for each partner using clinical outcomes, access improvements, cost savings, and utilization data, ensuring payors clearly see the impact SonderMind has on their members and their business

  • Grow each account organically beyond the initial contract. Identify and pursue expansion opportunities including new geographies, new lines of business, additional products and offerings, and participation in strategic initiatives like value-based programs

  • Drive member utilization of SonderMind services. Partner with payors on member engagement, referral pathways, and co-marketing initiatives that connect more of their members to care

  • Partner with the Payor Contracting team on renewals and new agreements, bringing relationship insights, expansion opportunities, and the value narrative that strengthens SonderMind\'s negotiating position

  • Work cross-functionally with Revenue Cycle, credentialing, compliance, legal, finance, and operations to deliver on partner commitments and keep each partnership running smoothly, and support additional projects including travel to industry conferences and in-person partner meetings

What does success look like?
  • Payor partners who view SonderMind as a strategic partner and seek us out for new opportunities

  • Measurable account growth: expanded offerings, new lines of business, and increased member utilization within your portfolio

  • A clear, data-backed value narrative for every partner that strengthens renewals and fuels expansion

  • Strong collaboration with the Payor Contracting team, ensuring relationship insights inform contracting strategy

  • Proactive identification of growth opportunities and resolution of partner issues before they escalate

  • Ability to independently manage a portfolio while contributing to team-wide objectives in a fast-paced environment

Who You Are
  • Minimum BA/BS in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related degree

  • Minimum five years in strategic account management, partner growth, or payor-facing relationship management, ideally in behavioral health or healthcare

  • Proven track record of growing accounts: expanding offerings, increasing utilization, or driving revenue within existing relationships

  • Knowledge of managed care and the payor landscape, including familiarity with alternative payment models such as value-based programs, risk arrangements, and case rates

  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn outcomes and utilization data into a compelling value narrative

  • Executive presence and strong communication skills: written, verbal, analytical

  • Ability to work remotely and travel to the corporate office, payor visits, and conferences

  • Ability to lean in to new tools including AI to drive outcomes

As leaders in redesigning behavioral health, we walk the walk with our employees\' benefits. • 401K retirement plan with 100% matching which immediately vests on up to 4% of base salary
