Payment Network Compliance Analyst (Visa/Mastercard/Discover)

Merchant Compliance | Sponsorship Oversight | Acquiring

About This Role

Citizens is seeking a Payment Network Compliance Analyst to support our sponsorship oversight program within the Payments Risk organization. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to Visa, Mastercard, and Discover network rules across merchant and third-party relationships.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role-not a traditional vendor risk/GRC position. The work is case-driven, detail-heavy, and high-volume, requiring strong judgment, documentation accuracy, and follow-through.

What You'll Do

  • Review and manageย merchant compliance cases, includingย network violations, inquiries, and escalations
  • Supportย third-party agent (TPA), includingย network registrations
  • Ensure compliance with ย Visa, Mastercard, and Discover rules and programs
  • Maintainย audit-ready documentation for all compliance activities and submissions
  • Track, prioritize, and resolveย multiple active cases simultaneously
  • Partner with internal teams (Payments, Risk, Compliance) toย investigate and resolve issues
  • Identify and escalateย potential risks or non-compliant merchant activity
  • Support reporting and tracking usingย Excel and internal case management tools

What We're Looking For (Required)

  • Direct experience in at least one of the following:ย 
    • Payment network compliance (Visa, Mastercard, Discover)
    • Merchant acquiring or sponsor bank environment
    • Merchant registrations, or violations handling
  • Experience managing:ย 
    • Case-based compliance work (tracking, investigation, resolution)
    • Regulatory or network-driven processes with documentation rigor
  • Strongย attention to detail and ability to produceย accurate, audit-ready work
  • Proven ability to manageย high-volume, process-driven workflows
  • Strongย Excel skills (tracking, validation, reconciliation)
  • Ability to workย cross-functionally and independently drive issues to resolution

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or 1-3+ years' experience in payments required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:ย 
    • Third-party agent (TPA) registration processes
    • Merchant network compliance monitoring or acquiring operations
    • PCI DSS, ADC (Account Data Compromise)
  • Background in:ย 
    • Payments operations
    • Fraud / Rules in payments context (not required but helpful)
  • Experience improving or optimizingย compliance workflows or tracking processes

What This Role Is NOT

  • Not a traditionalย TPRM / vendor risk / IT GRC role
  • Not focused onย cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO) as primary work
  • Not strategy-heavy-this is aย hands-on operational role

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $86,000 - $101,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
