About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer within Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) to support mission-critical financial payments platforms running on IBM i (iSeries). This role is responsible for the stability, security, reliability, and regulatory compliance of highly available, international payment processing environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on IBM i engineering expertise, strong incident management and troubleshooting capabilities, and a demonstrated track record supporting 24x7 production systems within the financial services industry.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide senior-level operational and engineering support for IBM i (iSeries) payment platforms

  • Act as an escalation point for complex production incidents; lead diagnostics, recovery, and root cause analysis

  • Support batch and real-time payment processing workloads to meet SLA, resiliency, and regulatory requirements

  • Manage platform security, access controls, digital certificates, and compliance-related configurations

  • Execute platform changes, upgrades, and production migrations in accordance with enterprise change management standards

  • Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to ensure platform stability and operational excellence

  • Drive automation and monitoring improvements to reduce manual operational effort and risk

  • Participate in on-call rotations and disaster recovery preparedness activities

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 5+ years of experience with IBM i / iSeries

  • 5+ years of experience with the IBM i Operating System, including: Security administration (authorization lists, group profiles, object-level permissions), IFS (Integrated File System) security and file system management, Network configuration with multiple interfaces, Subsystem configuration and workload management, IBM i object types (PGM, DTAARA, PF/LF, devices, source files, etc.) and Exit points and external connectivity management

  • 5+ years of experience supporting transaction processing, settlement platforms or payment processing such as ACH, wires, cards, real-time payments

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the financial services industry supporting production technology platforms

  • Experience with Scheduling & Alerting tools, including: Robot Scheduler (event-driven, time-based, and calendar-based job scheduling) and Robot Alert (alert capture, framework configuration, and enterprise notification integrations such as BigPanda)

  • Experience with High Availability and Replication, including: MIMIX (data group configuration, replication management, role swaps, switchback operations, and troubleshooting)

  • Experience with Messaging and Data Transfer, including: IBM MQ (administration of queues, channels, processes, certificates, and object-level security; deep expertise in configuration and performance tuning) and NDM / Connect:Direct (configuration and maintenance of cross-platform transfers across Windows, Unix, and mainframe environments)

  • Experience with Security and Certificate Management, including: Digital Certificate Manager (DCM) (certificate lifecycle management and troubleshooting) and Safenet / Trinity Guard (access issue diagnosis and authorization rule maintenance)

  • Experience with Database Management and Recovery, including: DB2 for i (DB400) (physical and logical file structures, restore sequencing, and data recovery methodologies)

  • Experience with Source Control and Change Management, including: Aldon / PDM (source control, code promotion, and deployment processes)

  • Experience with Backup and Recovery strategies, including: Full and incremental backups and Point-in-time object and library restoration

Expectations:

  • Able to work in a high availability, 24x7 global production environment

  • Familiarity with automation, reliability engineering, or SRE practices

  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
