ASL Paraeducator (School Aide)

$24/Hour | 31 Hours Per Week | 40-Week School-Year Assignment
Start Date: August 26, 2026

School-Based ASL Paraeducator Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASL Paraeducator (School Aide) to provide instructional and communication support for a high school student within a self-contained special education program.

This role is ideal for individuals who are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and independently within the school environment.

Position Summary

The School Aide works under the supervision of the Special Education Department, teacher, and other designated staff to support students requiring instructional, behavioral, and communication assistance. This position will provide direct support to a high school sophomore participating in a self-contained educational program.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting student learning, facilitating communication through ASL, and collaborating closely with educational teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to a student in a self-contained classroom setting.
  • Utilize ASL to facilitate communication and access to instruction.
  • Assist with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support needs.
  • Support classroom activities and instructional objectives.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and therapeutic needs as required.
  • Promote student independence and participation throughout the school day.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures.
Minimum QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience interpreting and facilitating communication through ASL.
  • Ability to comply with all professional standards and district requirements.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Current TB screening, PPD, or chest X-ray, if required.
  • Current health certificate, if applicable.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
