Job description

Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is an association representing the interests of the asphalt paving industry in the State of Ohio. FPO is seeking to fill the position of Pavements & Materials Engineer/Technician for Southern & Southwest Ohio. Regional and out of state travel is required.

The applicant should be proficient in various computer skills and software to include Microsoft Office and web-based communication tools. Applicant should be detail oriented and have a very strong customer focus and possess a working knowledge of pavement design and construction including: mixture types, pavement thickness design, and pavement maintenance. Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills are a must. A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered. Must possess a working knowledge of the Ohio Department of Transportation Construction & Materials Specifications. Registration in the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer is preferred. Salary based on experience and qualifications.

The following is a list of the primary duties of this position. This list is not all inclusive and there may be additional duties added or removed at the discretion of the Executive Director.

Communicates technical information and assistance to FPO members, public and private pavement owners through written documentation, oral presentations, and in person events.

Performs field assessments including onsite project review, pre-construction asphalt design and mixture recommendations and post construction evaluation.

Represents the interests of the industry before state, federal, and local government agencies and affiliated industry committees and associations.

 Develops training, provides instruction and technical presentations.

 Assists in developing written technical publications and articles.
