Role: Pattern Engineer - One Year, Fixed-Term Contract
Team: Size and Fit

As the Pattern Engineer, you are a skilled first through production patternmaker. This role requires proficiency in traditional patternmaking as well as 3D pattern making. Your ability to look at fit from a brand consistency and inclusivity perspective is critical. Knowledge of
best in class apparel construction methods and craftsmanship is essential. In this role, you will be responsible for consistently maintaining Patagonia's sizing and fit standards across a wide variety of sportswear and technical apparel products. You will also be tasked with solving complex fit and function challenges from the ideation stage through to production.
Additionally, you will collaborate with team members to build, revise, and maintain foundational fit tools.
What You'll Do:
  • Ensure Patagonia's standards for high quality, fit, function and reduced environmental impacts are met in all patternmaking work.
  • Contribute to fit block library through block creation, validation, and implementation.
  • High level of partnership with Product Designers, Product Developers and Product Line Managers to develop best in class product.
  • Use 3D technology tools to ideate, create, and validate through the product creation process.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers to ideate design concepts, while maintaining brand fit consistency.
  • Collaborate with Product Developers to align on fit and function of garments as well as effective communication of fit updates to factories.
  • Assist in both form and live model fittings, advise pattern and fit corrections.
  • Analyze factory built patterns to ensure use of identified starting pattern, and required fit consistency and functionality.
  • Prioritize workload to meet project, department, and/or company deadlines.
  • Navigate Flex PLM system to maintain style level size and fit information.
  • Clear communication of, and consistent use of, size and fit standards and tools.

Experience You Bring:
  • 6+ years pattern making experience.
  • Degree or experience in Patternmaking, Technical Design, Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing or similar.
  • Strong 3-dimensional problem-solving skills of complex technical designs.
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, fit, & fabric performance.
  • Sewing experience with Industrial Machines.
  • Understanding of grading principles.
  • Proficient in CAD pattern design software, VStitcher, Excel, FlexPLM and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience working with a variety of outdoor apparel products.
  • Excellent understanding of the design, development, and merchandising process from inception through production.
  • Ability to travel overseas.
  • Ability to instruct a manufacturer on necessary pattern changes to influence fit.
  • Strong ability to interpret design intent from sketches and offer creative pattern and construction solutions.
  • Must be able to work in a group dynamic that can include the disruptive atmosphere inherent to a creative environment.

Hiring Range: $97,000- $102,000 USD Annual
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay
within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. Note the full pay range for this role ranges from: $86,480.00 - 129,720.00 USD Annual. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role.

Workplace Location Overview
