Job description

Patient Companion I

The Patient Companion I is a role within Franciscan which reviews and follows patient care instructions provided by charge nurse/nursing professional, clarifies any patient questions, monitors the patient, and notifies nursing staff of the need for patient assistance or when leaving patient's bedside. This position, also, reports pertinent patient information and changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.

What You Can Expect:

  • Assist patients with meals, bathing and walking to chair or bathroom.
  • Provide diversion for patient.
  • Report to assigned nurse or Charge Nurse if any significant problems arise.
  • Assure proper confidentiality of patient.
  • Comply with all hospital safety measures.
  • Attentive to patient to help avoid tubes or equipment from being removed.
  • Primary focus is maintained for the patient. Personal activities may be performed.

Qualifications:

  • Required High School Diploma/GED
