Work Environment

This position is based onsite at a school in Troy, New York, where you will engage directly with students, educators, and parents. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations to diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses among students.
  • Prescribe necessary medications and treatments, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to develop health plans tailored to individual studentsโ€™ needs.
  • Provide health education to students and staff on topics such as nutrition, exercise, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems to track health interventions and outcomes.
  • Participate in school health programs and wellness initiatives to promote a culture of health and well-being.
  • Respond effectively to health emergencies, making swift decisions that prioritize student safety and well-being.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with a diverse population of students ranging from preschool through high school. This role is integral to identifying and addressing the unique health issues faced by children and adolescents, including mental health concerns, chronic illnesses, and developmental disabilities. Your contributions will significantly impact the physical, emotional, and social well-being of students, driving better educational and health outcomes.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Nursing is required, with a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice preferred.
  • Certification from a national certifying body such as the AANP or ANCC is mandatory.
  • An active, unrestricted New York state nurse practitioner license is essential.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a flexible workload in a dynamic school environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working in a school health service setting or pediatrics is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems or other healthcare documentation tools.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and caseload.
