Patient Service Representative

Job Summary: A Patient Service Representative is the first line of contact between patients and our clinics and physicians. The Patient Service Representative follows Madison Medical standards of practice, policies and procedures and supports the philosophy by incorporating them into the clinic. This full time position reports to the Clinic Supervisor /Regional Director of Clinic Operations, and is located in Mequon, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, performs patient check in and check out processes.
  • Answers incoming phone calls, screens calls, and takes messages and/or facilitates completion of call. Performs reminder calls prior to appointments.
  • Documents patient information in their record appropriately and accurately, works with others on the care team to acquire additional documentation if needed.
  • Completes patient registration and checks insurance eligibility for every patient to ensure payer information is correct and current.
  • Collects co-pays and prior balances from patients at the time of their visit.
  • Prepares charts for patient visits.
  • Monitors and corrects registration errors, uses insurance websites when needed to confirm patient eligibility.
  • Maintains work area and lobby in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Schedules patient appointments timely and manages physician's schedule according to their preferences.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and excellent customer service, communication and patient assistance both in person and on the phone.
  • Obtain prior authorizations (radiology) using web based applications or via phone.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
