Position Summary

Baptist Health is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director, Physician Relations to lead strategic physician engagement initiatives and strengthen referral relationships across the health system. Director, Physician Relations serves as a leader for the Physician Relations sales team. This leadership role is responsible for developing and executing physician outreach strategies that drive patient volume growth, enhance provider satisfaction, and support organizational service line objectives.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused healthcare professional with strong business development expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with physicians, practice administrators, and healthcare executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive physician relations and business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with community physicians, specialists, medical groups, and key referral sources.
  • Lead a team of physician relations managers, providing coaching, performance management, and strategic direction.
  • Analyze referral patterns, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, service line directors, and marketing teams to support physician engagement and growth initiatives.
  • Develop targeted outreach plans to increase awareness and utilization of Baptist Health services.
  • Monitor physician satisfaction and coordinate efforts to address concerns and improve provider experience.
  • Track key performance indicators, referral volumes, and market share growth metrics.
  • Support physician recruitment, onboarding, and integration efforts in partnership with medical staff leadership.
  • Represent Baptist Health at physician, professional, and healthcare industry events.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of healthcare business development, physician relations, sales, provider engagement experience, or related area.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare referral networks, physician practice operations, and healthcare market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated success developing strategic growth initiatives and achieving measurable results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must reside in Alabama, or able to relocate.
  • Masterโ€™s degree in marketing, business, healthcare administration or related field, may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.

Preferred:
