Registered Nurse (RN) - Dialysis

Location: Rochester, New York
Shift: Day/Evening Rotating Shifts
Schedule: Flexible 8, 10, or 12-Hour Shifts
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-volume dialysis program in Rochester, New York. This role requires strong experience in both chronic outpatient and acute dialysis settings, including charge nurse responsibilities within a fast-paced dialysis environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, dialysis clinical expertise, and the flexibility to support multiple dialysis locations and patient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to chronic outpatient and acute dialysis patients
  • Operate and monitor dialysis treatment equipment safely and effectively
  • Perform patient assessments before, during, and after dialysis treatments
  • Monitor patients for dialysis-related complications and respond appropriately
  • Cannulate AV fistulas and AV grafts
  • Manage tunneled and non-tunneled dialysis catheters
  • Administer blood products and medications as ordered
  • Serve as Charge Nurse for a 24-chair dialysis unit when assigned
  • Support acute dialysis coverage for 8-station acute dialysis services
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and treatment records
  • Ensure infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance standards are met
  • Float to additional dialysis locations as needed
Requirements
  • Active RN License required
  • Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience required
  • Charge Nurse experience required
  • Chronic outpatient dialysis experience required
  • Acute dialysis experience required
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Strong dialysis emergency management and critical thinking skills required
  • First-time travelers accepted
