Job description

RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN.

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Patient Access Representative (PAR) - Float

Schedule: Full-Time (1.0 fte) - 80 hours per pay period
Work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30pm

Pay Range: $21.16 - $29.63 (D.O.E - dependent upon experience)

Job Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly, benefitted position

River View Health has an opening for a full time (80 hours every 2 weeks) Patient Access Representative (Clinic Float).  This position is based out of our Crookston Main Clinic, but this position will travel to any outreach clinic supporting our operations as needed.

Some of the job tasks:

  • Answer phones and schedules patients for initial of follow-up appointments
  • Greet and register patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit.
  • Supports quality by making updates and corrections to work queues
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, clinicians and insurance companies.
  • Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility.
  • Performs point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability.
  • Obtains signatures for all necessary documents.
  • Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Provides support to multiple clinics as float representative

Required:

  • Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time

Preferred:

  • Experience in health care setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years of experience in a Patient Access setting
  • 1+ years of experience with an Electronic Medical Record such as Epic
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance

Competencies:

  • Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
