SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - Special Education & Evaluation Services

Reports to: Special Education & Evaluation Services Administrator
FLSA Status: Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
One of the earliest forms of learning for a child is language. This position offers both roles of an evaluator and practitioner of speech/language skills and how that impacts overall access to learning. As a part of our team of extraordinary educators, you will have the joy of witnessing the development of a student's ability to connect with their world. This interesting and dynamic position offers opportunities to work closely with a team of evaluators to assess a student holistically, to learn from each other, and to grow in your skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Master's degree or higher.
2. One of the following:
? Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
OR - If licensed before 2015;
? Oregon Teaching License with Special Education: Communication Disorders endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association, Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology, or actively pursuing this Certificate.
4. Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

3. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA.
4. Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students, and district staff as directed.
10. Ability to sit in child-sized chairs for extended periods of time and/or sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
11. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
12. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time it's deemed necessary.
1. Provide or direct speech and/or language therapy and services to identified students with speech/language impairments.
2. Assist education staff in observing and referring students with suspected speech/language impairments.
3. Provide individual evaluations in speech and language and other areas that may be assigned to identify students with speech/language impairments.
4. Provide comprehensive written reports of observations, assessment results, and recommendations within the standards established by the SEES department.
5. Participate as a specialist in speech/language impairments in determining eligibility.
6. Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs for identified students on caseload.
7. Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students with multiple or other disabilities.
8. Serve as a resource and consultant to provide specialized suggestions and/or materials for use by regular classroom staff or parents in delivering speech/language services or generalizations of previously acquired skills.
9. Compile and maintain required service records and documentation for assigned students on caseload.
10. Assist the district in compliance with federal and state special education law requirements.
11. When assigned, provide supervision and paperwork requirements of American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellows, as requested by agency or districts and assigned by the program administrator.
12. When assigned, oversee activities, supervision, and paperwork requirements of Oregon Board of Examiners certified Speech - Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
13. Maintain confidentially at all times.
14. Adjust /adapt services as determined by work environments such as regular classroom or separate therapy room.
15. Participate in the Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed.

- Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
- Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant's qualifications, relevant training, and experience
