About the Role


We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual with a strong background in immunology to join our team. The candidate will play a critical role in the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for inflammatory or autoimmune diseases by working with discovery, translational and clinical teams to select, characterize and advance candidates into preclinical and clinical development. This role will be lab-based and requires the candidate to work on-site at Synnovation’s headquarters in Wilmington, DE



Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, optimize, and execute in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate the pharmacological activity, mechanism of action, and immunomodulatory effects of novel small molecule drug candidates using primary immune cells, relevant cellular systems, and disease-relevant biological samples.
  • Collaborate with medicinal chemistry, biology, and translational sciences to guide compound profiling and support progression of compounds through the discovery pipeline.
  • Lead scientific efforts to establish translational pharmacology strategies linking target modulation to biological outcomes in autoimmune and inflammatory disease settings.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret pharmacodynamic and biomarker data.
  • Oversee and manage in vivo pharmacology studies, including efficacy, target engagement, and biomarker assessments in disease models.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and scientific summaries.
  • Present findings at project team meetings and contribute to scientific publication or presentations, patent applications, regulatory documents, and external collaborations as appropriate.


Qualifications


  • Ph.D. in Immunology or closely-related life sciences discipline with at least 3 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in immunology or translational science.
  • Demonstrated expertise in immunology and immune cell biology, particularly in the context of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases through publications, presentations or patents.
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing in vitro and ex vivo functional assays to evaluate pharmacological activity of therapeutic candidate molecules in relevant immune cells assays including flow cytometry, cytokine profiling and other immunological assay platforms.
  • Ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot technical challenges, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment.
  • Experience supporting or directing in vivo pharmacology studies in preclinical models of autoimmune or inflammatory disease.
  • Ability to clearly define goals and deliver timely results.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present scientific data to multidisciplinary teams and author scientific reports.
