Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! Patch & Security Update Operations Engineer provides patch implementation, management and maintenance services to ensure we securely manage the assets, access and operations support the customer’s global mission to provide IT services to DoS users enterprise wide. You will perform patch management and security update operations support to maintain operating environment compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • You will provide oversight and periodic review of the patch management process.
  • You are responsible for deploying and managing all CA patch/security update operations.
  • You will perform patch and security update deployment testing and maintain the customer patch File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site.
  • You will monitor, report, and remediate all deployment failures within 24 hours.
  • Additionally, you will monitor and report patch and security update compliance for all customer systems weekly.
  • The Patch & Security Update Operations Engineer will ensure anti-virus tools comply for all devices and monitor, alert, and troubleshoot non-compliance incidents.
  • You will comply with DoS rules and regulations governing patch and security update operations.
  • You will also develop and maintain Patch & Security administration SOPs for the customer IT service delivery processes aligned Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and DoS standards.
  • Update SOPs to reflect modernization initiatives and emerging technologies.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 5+ years
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • Secret Security Clearance

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comp TIA Sec+, ITIL 4 Foundation Certification(s)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

    • Sitting for long periods
    • Standing for long periods
    • Ambulate throughout an office
    • Ambulate between several buildings
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
    • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds
