Job description

PASTOR OF TEACHING & LEADERSHIP
This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with both immediate impact and long-term significance. The Pastor of Teaching & Leadership will serve two very distinct responsibilities.
This role will be one of the primary weekend teaching voices at The Crossing, working in close partnership with the Lead Pastor. They should be a gifted and engaging communicator with a deep personal walk with Jesus, have a strong grasp of Scripture, and have a heart for the lost and the long-time believer alike. They must be able to communicate in a winsome way to both the unchurched and the over-churched.
The Pastor of Teaching & Leadership will serve on both the Leadership Team and the Spiritual Oversight Team and collaborate on the church's strategic direction. The ideal candidate will be both a catalytic and collaborative leader who thrives in a team-oriented approach, who isn't afraid to take the lead, and who simultaneously celebrates the leadership and creative ideas of others. This role is intentionally designed to grow as quickly as the Lord allows. We expect this person's voice, influence, and leadership to expand significantly as we follow God's call together.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a primary weekend teaching voice, beginning at 15 weekends per year with a clear trajectory of more to come
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor in providing pastoral oversight and strategic leadership of the weekend experience
  • Invest in and develop pastoral teaching voices church-wide
  • Help set series themes and work with the Pastor of Worship Arts in weekend service planning
  • Work alongside the Lead Pastor in innovating new teaching strategies
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team and Spiritual Oversight Team and collaborate with the Lead Pastor in leading the Pastoral Team
  • Collaborate with the Board and Lead Pastor to shape, align, and advance the growth blueprint of The Crossing

  • Meets biblical qualifications for an Elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
  • Deep personal walk with Jesus; Feel called to reach the lost and unchurched
  • If married, spouse is supportive of your calling and has a sense of their own calling into the kingdom and the work of the local church
  • Gifted communicator who connects equally with long-term believers and people who've never opened a bible
  • Theologically grounded and aligned with The Crossing's beliefs and mission
  • Emotionally mature, relationally wise, and pastorally accessible
  • Strong, humble leader: Willing to take responsibility, provide direction, and work collaboratively within a team

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree preferred; equivalent ministry experience considered
  • Experience in a multi-site church culture preferred
  • Experience preaching 15+ times a year
