Summary:

The Scheduler / Planner (Outage) position is intended for an individual with extensive experience and advanced subject matter knowledge in Power Plant maintenance and scheduling / planning of maintenance activities.This knowledge can be gained through prior experience or a combination of college/technical training and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote safety by assuring that all safety rules and regulations are followed including the coordination and supervision of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
  • Communicate and lead in accordance with company vision and core values. Strong competencies in communication, teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Develop and draft written maintenance plans (PMโ€™s) for the plant.
  • Conduct outage and or weekly maintenance scheduling while helping establish plant maintenance priorities in accordance with Plant Operationsโ€™ needs.
  • Determine and schedule necessary resources using Primavera P6, PasTA, MS Projects, SAP e.g. supplies, materials, parts, and special tools or equipment required to perform maintenance inspections and/or work.
  • Interpret technical manuals, sketches, prints, instructions, manufacturerโ€™s data and equipment history records while incorporating the applicable information in developing maintenance plans.
  • Track and update schedule daily, communicate updates to Stakeholders, provide daily reports, and integrate Field Change Requests into schedule updates
  • Plan work. Includes costing, manpower and time-estimates, and re-evaluate estimates to reflect changing job requirements and prepare job sequence requirements for major plant projects and for specific maintenance work.
  • Be able to produce concise schedule variance reports based on approved Key Performance Metrics.
  • Lead schedule review meetings with various Stakeholders in Engineering, Operations, Corporate Outage Team, and Contractors. Ensure critical path activities are optimized and WBS defined while consulting with the key stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Analyze and update SAP on actual versus estimated time, equipment, and manpower requirements.
  • Establish and validate estimates for recurring maintenance work using historical knowledge and leveraging the experience of peers and Supervisors.
  • Be able to establish a working relationship with OEMs to address matters concerning the servicing, assembly, or maintenance of equipment.
  • Initiate / update notifications, work orders, BOMโ€™s, PMโ€™s and support all assigned work (including major scheduled or forced outages planning and execution) and participate in developing weekly plans
  • Coordinate with Procurement and vendors to request/receive information and to expedite the approval of documents and the delivery of materials.
  • Track project costs and perform invoicing.
  • Collateral duties and special projects as assigned by the Outage Manager.
  • Support the implementation of NRG policies and procedures.
  • Develop and assist others in the development of technical / engineered work packages.
  • Fill in for the Planner, Outage Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager when needed.
  • Participate in spare parts optimization initiatives, criticality ranking, and development of maintenance strategies.
Required:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 5 yearsโ€™ experience in maintenance planning and scheduling
  • 3 years of experience working with SAP or other CMMS program.
Preferred:
  • Associates degree in a related field
  • 5-7 yearsโ€™ experience working in power plants
  • Project Management experience is considered a plus.

  • Demonstrated competencies relative to this position include accountability, adaptability/flexibility, building credibility, business acumen, customer focus, empowering others, gaining commitment, problem solving, shaping strategy, teamwork and tolerance for stress. Strong communications and leadership ability is essential to succeeding in this position.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment and power plant environment.
  • Frequent trips into the field and interaction with operations is necessary to ensure proper planning for work.
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid driverโ€™s license in state of residency.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Requires operation of a personal computer and knowledge of Microsoft Work Office Suite.

The base salary range for this position is $87,280 - $130,920 *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
