Position Summary:

The Director of Sales leads the hotel's commercial sales strategy and on-property sales execution, ensuring alignment with The Manner's luxury positioning, brand standards, and ownership objectives. This role is responsible for driving total hotel revenue across luxury leisure, consortia, business travel, group, and events, while maintaining a strong market presence and cultivating high-value relationships.

The Director of Sales serves as a senior leader and brand ambassador, providing visible on-property leadership, managing internal and external sales resources, and collaborating closely with brand and management partners to deliver sustained commercial performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Revenue Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with brand positioning, market conditions, and revenue objectives.
  • Drive performance across luxury leisure, consortia, business travel, group, and events to achieve a balanced and profitable mix.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities within core and emerging markets while protecting rate integrity and brand positioning.
  • Oversee sales forecasting, budgeting, and pace reporting to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the on-property sales team, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability and performance excellence.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development to build a high-performing sales organization.
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence, actively participating in key account strategy, site inspections, and client engagement.

Market Coverage & Sales Representation

  • Manage and direct third-party sales representative companies in key geographic feeder markets.
  • Establish objectives, reporting cadence, and accountability for remote market partners.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all markets.

Luxury Leisure, Business Travel, Group & Event Sales

  • Lead relationships with luxury travel advisors, consortia partners, and preferred programs.
  • Develop business travel, group, and event accounts aligned with long-term value.
  • Collaborate with Events and Operations to ensure seamless execution.

Brand, Ownership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Hyatt and corporate Sales teams.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and Marketing on pricing and positioning.
  • Work with Operations to ensure client expectations are delivered.

Industry Presence & Brand Ambassadorship

  • Represent the hotel at industry events and sales missions.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador within the luxury travel community.
Travel Trade Marketing Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute travel trade marketing strategy across consortia, BT, Group and GDS to drive high-rated business
  • Manage and optimize GDS marketing content, including rate descriptions, property positioning, and promotional messaging
  • Create and deploy targeted travel trade marketing promotions aligned with need periods in partnership with Revenue Management
  • Oversee consortia marketing programs (Virtuoso, FHR, Signature AMEX THC, Chase), including agreements, amenities, and visibility
  • Monitor travel trade marketing performance and production trends to optimize ADR and RevPAR
  • Ensure all travel trade marketing content, rate codes, and offers are accurate across distribution channels
  • Track ROI of travel trade marketing initiatives and adjust strategy to maximize profitability

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive luxury sales leadership experience.
  • Proven success in luxury consortia, business travel, group, and event sales.
  • Experience managing third-party sales representation companies.
  • Strong forecasting, negotiation, and CRM proficiency.
