Job description

OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-time Program Manager for the Family Business Center in hte Opus College of Business.

This is a grant-funded position and we anticipate this to be a three-year appointment, dependent on continued funding. This part-time position requires an average of 20 hours per week and attendance at events, including one early morning per month during the school year.

Pay Range: $25.40 to $33.00/hr

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager will take ownership of program operations, ensure excellent member and participant experiences, and contribute to the development of new initiatives and revenue-generating opportunities. This is a high-visibility role ideal for a professional who thrives in relationship-driven environments, enjoys managing complex projects, and is motivated to strengthen and grow the impact of the Center within the university and broader business community. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Event Leadership

  • Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of the Family Business Breakfast Series, Advisor Luncheon, and other in-person gatherings.
  • Oversee invitation, registration, and communication processes; analyze attendance data and recommend strategies to grow engagement.
  • Manage logistics, vendor partnerships, and marketing collaborations with university partners to ensure professional execution of all events.
  • Represent the Center at events, ensuring a high-quality experience for members, advisors, and guests.

Peer Group Management

  • Direct the operations and participant experience of Family Business Peer Groups, ensuring alignment with the Centerโ€™s goals.
  • Serve as primary liaison for facilitators and participants, building relationships and maintaining strong group continuity.
  • Develop and manage systems for participant onboarding, scheduling, tracking and evaluation.

Mentoring & Student Engagement Programs

  • Design and implement a structured mentoring and internship program connecting family businesses with students and emerging leaders.
  • Develop processes for participant matching, engagement, and outcomes tracking.
  • Strengthen visibility of St. Thomas as a hub for next-generation family business leadership.

Operational & Programmatic Leadership

  • Oversee program operations including recordkeeping, outcome measurement, and use of CRM and communication system.
  • Track program expenses, assist with budget reporting, and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare board meeting materials and contribute to strategic discussions and follow-up actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, education, communications, or a related field

  • Three years of experience in program management, higher education, member-focused organizations or related fields

  • Demonstrated ability to mange multiple programs simultaneously, with strong organizational and project management skills

  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising judgment within established guidelines

  • Skilled in marketing and outreach, with the ability to collaborate on communication strategies to enhance program visibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in program development, budget tracking, and event management

  • Familiarity with family business, multigenerational dynamics or member-based associations

  • Proficiency with CRM systems, data tracking, and report preparation
