What Is a Parts Runner?

A parts runner is a member of a team in an automotive parts warehouse or supplier. Your primary role in this career is to deliver parts to auto shops or repair shops promptly after those shops order the parts. Occasionally a customer may also come into a parts warehouse to buy or pick up a part, at which time the parts runner is responsible for going into the warehouse area to grab that part and bring it to the front for the sales team. You typically drive a pickup truck on your deliveries. Your other job duties and responsibilities may include helping with inventory.

These skills ensure timely and accurate delivery of parts, supporting efficient operations and minimizing downtime in automotive or industrial settings.

For a Parts Runner, such earnings are uncommon and generally not achievable without additional roles or extraordinary circumstances.

What are some typical challenges a Parts Runner might face during a workday, and how can they be managed?

Parts Runners often work in fast-paced environments where timely delivery of parts is crucial to keeping projects or repairs on schedule. Common challenges include managing multiple delivery requests simultaneously, navigating large warehouses or unfamiliar locations, and ensuring accurate documentation for parts picked up and delivered.
