Job Description
This role is responsible for purchasing all assigned parts, purchase production materials, components, equipment, tooling, and services utilizing new and/or existing suppliers in support of the company's objectives.
This position is responsible for sourcing parts and suppliers and on-time delivery to ensure that parts are delivered in compliance with company requirements for quality, delivery, cost and performance specifications.
The Buyer works with departmental management and other buyers as needed to accomplish departmental goals and company objectives.
This position understands procurement options, supplier capabilities and risks associated with procurement activities. Builds strong internal and external relationships in order to achieve high procurement performance and to negotiate strong terms in order to deliver the best value and quality solutions.
Supplier Sourcing 25%
  • Builds a clear understanding of the businesses immediate and long-range requirements for third party goods and services and to ensure alignment of business objectives in order to meet production requirements.
  • Identifies and evaluates candidate suppliers.
  • Conducts global market test, and make sourcing decisions with management approval
  • Analyzes the supplier quotes and negotiates part/tooling price with suppliers to deliver quality, cost and delivery target.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions to conclude the contract with sourced supplier.
  • Prepares and executes negotiations with suppliers ensuring their contractual commitment regarding pricing, quality, logistics, warranty and technical performance.

Cost Improvement 25%
  • Develops and implements cost improvement activities for assigned parts and suppliers.
  • Promote continuous cost improvement activities in cooperation with related departments and suppliers.

Supply Chain Management 20%
  • Analyzes the supplier performance and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitors supplier launch readiness and promote necessary problem-solving activities in cooperation with related departments and suppliers, if required.
  • Promotes continuous supply chain optimization activity.

Purchasing 15%
  • Responsible for managing suppliers: purchase orders, procurement parts, and repair parts to meet production requirements.
  • Issues purchase orders and/or tool orders.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions.
  • Manages and resolve supplier problems.
  • Anticipates shortage concerns and monitors supplier's in-process orders to account for production volume changes.
  • Researches and recommends countermeasures for gaps and scheduling.

Benchmarking 15%
  • Collects and analyzes the benchmark information/data (e.g., industry trend, cost index, etc.), and update the strategy.

Qualifications and Other Requirements:
Education (Minimum):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or other related field; OR combination of education and work experience is required.

Required Experience:
  • 2 - 4+ years of automotive experience in purchasing.
  • Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Presentation and public speaking skills
  • Strong and effective negotiation skills
  • Contract execution and administration, purchase order execution, and the measurement/reporting of the value delivered
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of business personnel
  • Willingness to take initiative

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commodities in area of specialization
