Job description

The Carolina Hurricanes are seeking a Grassroots Marketing Manager to deepen the organization's presence across the Triangle through authentic, relationship-driven community engagement. This role will focus on building meaningful connections with multicultural leaders, community organizations, and event organizers to grow the Hurricanes brand in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and rooted in trust.
This is a highly visible, outward-facing role for a connector-someone who thrives in community settings, understands the value of representation, and believes brand growth happens best through genuine human relationships.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multicultural leaders, community advocates, and organizations across the Triangle region
  • Serve as a representative of the Carolina Hurricanes at community events, networking opportunities, festivals, and meetings
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with event organizers, nonprofits, cultural organizations, and local leaders
  • Develop and execute grassroots marketing initiatives that authentically connect the Hurricanes brand to diverse communities
  • Collaborate with internal marketing, community outreach, partnership, and retail teams to align grassroots efforts with broader organizational goals
  • Identify new opportunities for community presence, brand storytelling, and local engagement
  • Act as a trusted liaison between the Hurricanes organization and community partners, ensuring consistent follow-through and relationship care
  • Track outreach efforts, partnerships, and community impact, providing insights and recommendations for growth
  • Represent the Hurricanes brand with professionalism, cultural awareness, and enthusiasm at all times

Qualifications & Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in grassroots marketing, community engagement, brand activation, or a related field
  • Existing connections within Triangle-area communities and/or experience building relationships across diverse cultural groups a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with community leaders and large groups
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural competency
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by community events
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple relationships simultaneously
  • Passion for community building, sports, and the power of local engagement
  • Experience working in professional sports, entertainment, or large consumer brands a plus
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus
  • Familiarity with the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and its community landscape
  • Must have a valid NC driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must pass a criminal background check
