Reporting to the Director - Internal Communications, the Assistant Director is responsible for the operations of the Internal Communications function, including the team of internal communications advisors and the content integration centre.


In this capacity, the person sees to optimum resource allocation, team delivery capacity, the quality of services offered to the partner and achievement of the expected results. This ensures development of the talent under the person's responsibility and creates the conditions enabling the team to practise their expertise fully and maximize their contribution.


The incumbent plays a key role in coordination of the function's different components to ensure fluid collaboration, a consistent partner experience and efficient execution of the organization's priorities.


In close collaboration with the Practice Lead and the Director, the person will contribute to the continuous evolution of the function by identifying opportunities to strengthen, upgrade or develop practices, tools, processes and work methods. The person also plays an important role in the adoption of artificial intelligence and new ways of working to grow the team's efficiency, capacity and value added.

Leadership and talent development

  • Mobilize, support and develop the employees under their responsibility.
  • Create an environment favouring collaboration, engagement, continuous learning and empowerment.
  • Act as a coach and reflection partner with team members to support their development and performance.
  • Favour sharing of expertise, competency development and group learning.
  • Ensure recruitment, integration, performance evaluation and development of the talent under their responsibility.

Operations and capacity management

  • Ensure planning, prioritizing and optimum allocation of resources by seeing to efficient use of the available capacity and achievement of organizational priorities.
  • Ensure clear visibility of priorities, workloads, deadlines and operational risks.
  • Optimize collaboration among content advising, planning, drafting, integration and dissemination operations.
  • Establish and follow indicators allowing assessment of operational efficiency and the quality of services rendered.
  • Identify and implement the necessary improvements to increase the fluidity, efficiency and predictability of operations.
  • Support the advisors in the development and achievement of communication strategies and plans meeting the partners' needs and the organizational priorities, as well as in management of complex, sensitive and high-visibility issues.
  • Favour a consistent partner experience and a high level of advisory service throughout the function.

Contribution to the evolution of the practice

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the function by identifying the opportunities to upgrade practices, processes, tools and work approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Lead and the Director to strengthen the function's efficiency and relevance.
  • Ensure the emergence of the needs observed in the field and contribute to their translation into concrete solutions.
  • Support implementation and adoption of new practices, approaches, tools and standards within the team.
  • In collaboration with the Practice Lead and the Director, contribute to the evolution of the uses of artificial intelligence and new technologies to grow operational efficiency, quality of deliverables and team capacity.

What could accelerate your success in this position

  • Significant experience in internal communications, organizational communications or a strategic advisory service role with business partners.
  • Proven experience in management, mobilization and development of professionals operating in a context of expertise or advisory services.
  • Mobilizing leadership, developed political acumen and excellent ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize and efficiently manage resources, capacity and operations in a complex and constantly changing environment.
  • Solid professional judgment, marked client focus and ability to navigate easily in strategic or high-visibility portfolios.
  • Marked interest in innovation, continuous improvement and integration of artificial intelligence into professional practices.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a management role including direct supervision of employees.
  • University education in a relevant field or any combination of education, experience and achievements that can prove the competencies required to succeed in the role.
  • Intermediate level in the English language and advanced level in the French language, as the person will be required to communicate with Anglophone partners on an ad hoc basis and collaborate regularly in a French-speaking work environment.
