Job description

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Brand & Franchising CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Development Manager is a key contributor to Farmer Boys® growth strategy, responsible for supporting franchise sales development, brand promotion, and market expansion planning. This role blends franchise sales, outreach, franchise development support, and strategic planning to accelerate the growth of Farmer Boys’ footprint across California, Nevada, Arizona, and beyond.

In this role, you will help build the franchise restaurant development pipeline through modern sales tools (LinkedIn, YouTube, and digital campaigns), represent Farmer Boys® at industry events and trade shows, and partner with both prospective and existing franchisees to advance strategic store growth planning. This is a high-impact role that supports the company’s multi-unit growth strategy and long-term market development goals.

The position reports directly to the Vice President of Brand & Franchise Development and will collaborate closely with the marketing, operations, and real estate teams to ensure alignment with Farmer Boys’ strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Franchise Sales Development
    • Support franchise sales efforts by generating leads through traditional (in-person, phone, email), contemporary (LinkedIn, YouTube, digital), and other prospecting tools.
    • Assist with the creation of franchise development marketing materials, videos, and social media content.
    • Track, manage, and report on franchise development pipeline activity.
  • Event & Trade Show Support
    • Represent Farmer Boys® at franchise expos, tradeshows, and industry events.
    • Coordinate logistics, booth set-up, and lead follow-up for events.
    • Act as a brand ambassador to prospective franchisees, showcasing Farmer Boys’ value proposition.
  • Strategic Growth Planning
    • Partner with the VP of Brand and Franchise Development to assess market opportunities and support area development strategies.
    • Collaborate with existing franchisees on strategic growth plans, expansion opportunities, and new site evaluations.
    • Support financial and market analyses for new developments and franchise agreements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with marketing to ensure brand consistency in franchise development messaging.
    • Collaborate with operations and real estate teams to align franchise growth initiatives with system capacity and market priorities.
    • Support executive leadership with data, presentations, and reporting on franchise growth strategies.
    • Other tasks as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Real Estate, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in franchise sales, business development, strategic planning, or marketing.
  • Experience in the restaurant, retail, or franchise industries strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to attend trade shows, franchisee meetings, and market tours.
  • Desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Full-time position: the position may require weekends and evening work.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, and walking (up to 8 hours at a time); bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 15 pounds).
  • When visiting restaurant locations, the Development Manager must adhere to the restaurant dress code policy, inclusive of wearing non-slip shoes.
