Position Title
Human Resources PartnerDays - Full TimeSudlerPosition Summary / Career Interest:As an integral member of the University of Kansas Physicians (UKP) Human Resources team, the HR Partner serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees by providing assistance in employee relations, leave administration, employment law, and strategic Human Resources initiatives. The HR Partner helps mitigate organizational risk through the consistent application of employment laws, organizational policies, and leave and accommodation programs, including FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, reasonable accommodations, and disability programs. This role partners with HR leadership and managers to support employee relations by assisting with workplace investigations, performance management, corrective action, policy interpretation, and maintaining accurate documentation within the HR Acuity case management system. The HR Partner also collaborates with UKP Human Resources leadership to support strategic initiatives across employee relations, benefits administration, physician onboarding, HR operations, compliance, process improvement, workforce analytics, and other organizational priorities. Responsibilities include supporting HR projects, analyzing workforce data, developing and facilitating training for leaders and physicians, and recommending process improvements that enhance operational effectiveness and the employee experience. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and relationship-building skills, with effectiveness measured by the quality of service provided, successful execution of strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, operational improvements, and the ability to build trusted partnerships across the organization.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Partner with HR leadership and department leaders to address employee relations matters through timely, objective, and thorough review of workplace concerns, investigations, and policy interpretation.

  • Assist in administering corrective action, performance management, and disciplinary processes while ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance with organizational policies and applicable employment laws.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely employee relations documentation within the HR Acuity case management system and prepare reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for organizational improvement.

  • Analyze employee relations data and workforce trends to develop recommendations that minimize organizational risk, improve employee experience, and support strategic decision-making.

  • Serve as a trusted resource to leaders, physicians, and employees by providing guidance on Human Resources policies, procedures, employment practices, leave administration, benefits, payroll, and related HR programs.

  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and assist in implementing process or policy updates to maintain organizational compliance.

  • Maintain and update Human Resources policies, procedures, employee communications, manuals, and required workplace postings.

  • Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, state leave programs, military leave, and other applicable leave policies.

  • Serve as the Human Resources subject matter expert for leave administration by interpreting policies, ensuring compliance, and providing guidance to leaders and employees throughout the leave process.

  • Partner with third-party leave and disability administrators to coordinate claims, monitor case activity, resolve issues, and ensure timely communication with employees and managers.

  • Oversee disability program administration, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and all applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Ensure efficient processing of leave transactions and maintain accurate records within HR systems.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by supporting employees and physicians throughout the leave and return-to-work process.

  • Partner and collaborate with UKP Human Resources leadership to identify operational opportunities and support strategic initiatives across Human Resources, including employee relations, benefits, HR operations, compliance, workforce analytics, and process improvement.

  • Lead or support cross-functional HR projects by establishing project objectives, conducting research, developing recommendations, coordinating implementation activities, and monitoring outcomes.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret Human Resources data to identify trends, develop metrics, support reporting, and provide actionable recommendations that improve operational effectiveness and employee experience.

  • Assist with the administration of employee engagement surveys, focus groups, exit interviews, and other feedback mechanisms, communicating findings and recommendations to HR leadership and organizational leaders.

  • Review and process Human Resources transactions within Workday, ensuring accuracy and integrity of employee data entered through Employee and Manager Self-Service.

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate Human Resources training programs for leaders, physicians, managers, and employees on topics including employee relations, performance management, employment policies, leave administration, benefits, retirement programs, compliance, and other HR initiatives.

  • Support onboarding initiatives by assisting with new hire orientation and other organizational training programs as needed.

  • Provide consultation and educational resources that promote consistent application of Human Resources policies and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with HR leadership, Payroll, Benefits, HRIS, third-party administrators, physician leaders, managers, and employees to ensure exceptional Human Resources service delivery.

  • Represent Human Resources on organizational committees, workgroups, and special initiatives as assigned.

  • Perform other Human Resources duties and special projects in support of departmental and organizational objectives.

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 2 or more years of previous experience in Human Resources preferably in a healthcare environment.
