What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Partner Implementation Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Partner Implementation Manager, you need strong project management skills, experience with client onboarding, and a background in business or technology, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM software, project management tools like Asana or Jira, and integration platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and relationship-building skills help you navigate partner needs and drive successful implementations. These skills are crucial for ensuring smooth partner onboarding, fostering client satisfaction, and achieving organizational goals.

What are some common challenges faced by Partner Implementation Managers during the onboarding of new partners?

Partner Implementation Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning expectations between internal teams and external partners, managing project timelines, and addressing technical integration issues. They must coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including product, engineering, and support teams, to ensure a smooth onboarding process. Clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and adaptability are key to overcoming these hurdles and building strong, long-term partnerships.

What is a Partner Implementation Manager?

A Partner Implementation Manager is a professional responsible for managing and overseeing the onboarding and integration of business partners, such as vendors or clients, into a company's systems, products, or services. They coordinate project timelines, communicate requirements, and ensure a smooth transition and successful partnership launch. This role typically involves working cross-functionally with sales, product, and technical teams to deliver customized solutions that meet both the company's and the partner's needs.

Job description

Puzzle is redefining how companies navigate their financials. Weโ€™ve built modern, AI-powered accounting software that empowers accounting firms and the founders they serve with real-time, comprehensive financial insights. Our platform drafts books in real time, integrates natively with Stripe, Ramp, Mercury, Brex, Gusto, and more, and delivers AI-powered analysis that goes far beyond traditional accounting systems.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

As an Implementation Manager focused on Accounting Partnerships at Puzzle, youโ€™ll own the end-to-end implementation experience for accounting firms and their clients. Youโ€™ll take customers from signed contract through a successful go-live, ensuring their financial workflows, data, and team are fully set up.

This is a fully execution-focused role. Youโ€™ll manage the entire implementation lifecycle โ€” kickoff, configuration, data migration, testing, go-live โ€” while serving as the primary point of contact for customers throughout. Our firm partners are sophisticated; they expect someone who can speak fluently about accounting workflows from day one, not someone learning on the job.

This is a great opportunity for someone who comes from an accounting or finance background and is excited to bring that expertise into a customer-facing, implementation-driven role at a fast-growing fintech startup.

Weโ€™re open to hiring across a range of experience levels for this role โ€” from strong mid-level candidates to seasoned Senior Implementation Managers. The right level will be determined based on your background and what you bring to the table.

Accounting experience is required for this role.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Own the Full Implementation Lifecycle: Lead customer implementations from kickoff through go-live โ€” managing timelines, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring every customer launches successfully on Puzzle.

  • Configure the Platform to Customer Needs: Translate each firmโ€™s accounting workflows into Puzzle โ€” chart of accounts setup, reporting structures, close processes, and operational requirements โ€” so the platform works exactly the way they need it to.

  • Manage Data Migration: Own the migration of customer financial data from source systems (ERP, GL, spreadsheets), validate accuracy, and lead testing and reconciliation to ensure nothing is lost in translation.

  • Lead Testing and Go-Live Validation: Verify that financial workflows, reporting outputs, and system configurations reconcile accurately before handing customers over to the Customer Success team.

  • Be the Primary Customer Contact: Guide customers through onboarding, training, and change management โ€” providing clear, consistent communication and building trust at every stage of the process.

  • Identify and Resolve Risks Early: Spot issues across data, processes, or timelines before they become blockers, and partner with Product and Engineering to drive resolution quickly.

  • Improve the Playbook: Develop and maintain implementation best practices and documentation as we scale, making each implementation better than the last.

Who You Are
  • A solid accounting or finance foundation โ€” public accounting, audit, or in-house experience that gives you genuine fluency in how finance teams operate. This is non-negotiable.

  • Sharp project management instincts โ€” you can juggle multiple workstreams, keep timelines on track, and surface risks before they become problems.

  • Clear, confident communicator with the presence to work directly with senior stakeholders.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by fast-paced startup environments where processes are still being built.

  • Intermediate Excel or Google Sheets skills for data validation and migration work.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in an implementation, solutions, or customer success role

  • ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition knowledge

  • CPA or equivalent certification

  • Experience at a SaaS or fintech company

  • Familiarity with fintech integrations (Stripe, Ramp, Brex, Rippling, Salesforce, etc.)

Whatโ€™s in It for You

Join Puzzle at a pivotal growth stage where youโ€™ll help redefine how accounting firms and their clients manage their financials โ€” and build your career in a flexible, remote-first environment. Youโ€™ll have real ownership over a high-impact channel, work closely with innovative founders, and develop deep expertise at the intersection of modern accounting and fintech.

  • Competitive base pay and meaningful equity so you share in what weโ€™re building

  • 100% paid employee health, dental, and vision (U.S. & Canada; plans vary by region)

  • Flexible PTO plus 9โ€“10 observed company holidays so you can recharge

  • $1,000 home office budget to get set up for success

  • $2,400 co-working budget for face time with your colleagues

  • $600 learning and development budget

  • 401(k) so you can save for your future

  • Team offsites in incredible locations โ€” our teams have connected everywhere from New York and San Francisco to Italy, France, and beyond
