If you have a desire to have a career working with young children then Promise Early Education Center would like to help you achieve that goal! An Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred but you can work as an Early Head Start Teacher if you have you Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)!

Position Summary: Promise's Teachers are early childhood professionals responsible to create a positive, safe environment and deliver a comprehensive, quality and developmentally appropriate program for children and their families.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the safety and welfare of all children within the program:
    1. Maintain a safe and nurturing environment which promotes self-expression and self-regulation in children.
    2. Provides effective supervision to children by zoning classroom as outlined in policies and procedures and follows redundant systems in place to keep children safe.
    3. Adheres to all established safety systems as outlined in Agency Operations Manual and Emergency Procedures and Documentation Manual.
    4. Implement Promise Early Education Center goals, objectives, and philosophy. Responsible for planning and coordination of developmentally appropriate Infant/Toddler program which includes, but not limited to:
      1. Early Head Start Performance Standards.
      2. Routines and Transitions.
      3. Observations, Individualized Goals and Documentation.
      4. Attendance report.
      5. Family Services/Case Management.
      6. Developmental Screens and Assessments.
      7. Maintenance of classroom supplies.
  1. Encourage individual growth in children in the areas of physical, cognitive, social and emotional health:
  2. Ensure children have identified school readiness goals that include the development of language and numeracy skills.
  3. Implement transition plans for children and families.
  4. Develop individualized training plans.
  5. Provide positive leadership to the classroom team:
    1. Supervise Teacher Assistant in all areas with the goal of shared responsibility for the operation of a quality Infant/Toddler program.
    2. Guide and supervise substitutes, volunteers and other assigned personnel.
    3. Maintain effective management of the overall function of the classroom.
    4. Keep current with early childhood best practice through participation in professional development maintaining a personal professional development plan that ensures 40 hours participation in relevant trainings.
  1. Minimum of Child Development Credential (CDA) required. 
  2. Relate well to children and families.
  3. Practical decision making and problem-solving skills.
  4. Proficient with use of computer (knowledge of Microsoft Office & Word).
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Must have reliable means of transportation.
  7. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to help in different locations when and where needed as part of a team. Flexibility in schedule to meet all classroom needs.
