Job description

Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.


American Leadership Academy is currently accepting applications for a Part Time School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year at our Spanish Fork campus located in Spanish Fork, UT. This is an on-site role. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the direct link between physicians, families and community health care services and agencies to enhance the quality and continuity of health care for all students.
  • Assumes the responsibility for appropriate intervention, management and/or referral of all students.
  • Provides basic first aid and general care for students to include administering medications.
  • Provides relevant health instruction, counseling and guidance to students, parents, teachers and others concerning a variety of acute, chronic health problems, first aid, diseases and other health related topics.
  • Upholds professional standards, laws pertaining to health and/or nursing care and district policies.
  • Assists the school staff/administration in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating school health programs.
  • Completes all state required screenings along with supportive documentation and compilation of reports. Provides reports to Director of Health Services.
  • Delegates tasks according to UT state board of nursing.
  • Oversees care provide by campus UAPs and Health Aides.
  • Assists school personnel in establishing safe and sanitary conditions in the schools.
  • Collaborates with parents and other care providers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care and related school health activities.
  • Utilizes established nursing process to assess, analyze, plan, implement, record and evaluate all nursing care.
  • Implements school policies regarding communicable disease and infection including exclusion and readmission of students.
  • Communicates reportable communicable disease outbreaks to local county health department and Director of Health Services.
  • Monitors chronic illness and other health problems in students by preparing, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans when appropriate.
  • Advises school staff regarding modification of educational programs and/or environment to meet health needs of individual students.
  • Advises teachers on health matters.
  • Identifies and reports suspected child abuse and neglect per applicable laws and school district policies.
  • Monitors and records immunization data per applicable laws and school district policies.
  • Assists with Health crisis and reporting, serves as a resource for school personnel in navigating health crisis/emergencies to include mental health crisis/emergencies, collaborates with teams and leads debriefings as needed.
  • Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and health curriculum.
  • Contributes to nursing and school health through innovations in theory and practice and participation in research.
  • Participates in evaluation to assure quality of nursing care provided for student and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Candidates with the following skills will thrive as part of our growing team:

• Must be able to move about campus in case of emergencies; may have to do some lifting and transporting of students

• Must have the ability to work independently and make sound judgments and decisions in a wide variety of situations under pressure

• Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, procedures, regulations, and rules


Required Qualifications:

  • Valid RN License required (must be licensed in the state of practice, if the practice state is part of the compact, a compact license will be accepted)
  • Two years of nursing experience
  • Current CPR Certification, AHA preferred
  • Pass applicable background check


Preferred Qualifications:

  • School Nurse Certification (may be required with 2 years of employment)
  • Emergency and pediatric experience
