Adjunct Faculty – Physical Education (Weightlifting)
Priority Application Date: June 5, 2026 (open until filled)
Anticipated Start Date: August 24, 2026
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high quality programs and services for our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code 8748.25). We are seeking lecturers who have the ability to teach in the above area for inclusion in the Physical Education Adjunct Pool to teach Weightlifting in the Fall 2026 semester and beyond.
Note: Taft College Physical Education (Weightlifting) Course(s) for this position are going to be offered in-person (on campus). Adjunct teaching opportunities may include teaching day or evening courses.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR
  2. Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; OR
  3. Any Bachelor's and Two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment; OR
  4. An Equivalency Determination may be submitted along with all application materials to be considered for this position if you do not meet the stated minimum qualifications. The Equivalency Determination document may be found here: Request for Equivalency; AND
  5. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

COMPENSATION $78.86- $92.66 per hour.
