How much do part time videography jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 13, 2026, the average yearly pay for part time videography in the United States is $63,930.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $44,500.00 and $73,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Videographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Videographer, you need strong technical skills in camera operation, video editing, and basic lighting, often supported by a portfolio or relevant coursework. Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, and sometimes knowledge of DSLR or mirrorless cameras, is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication help you capture client visions and work efficiently under deadlines. These skills ensure high-quality, compelling video content that meets client needs and stands out in a competitive field.

How much to charge for 2 hours of filming?

For part-time videographers, rates typically range from $50 to $150 per hour, depending on experience, equipment, and project complexity. For a 2-hour shoot, total charges often fall between $100 and $300, with additional fees for editing or specialized skills. It's common to set a flat rate or hourly rate based on the scope of the project and client requirements.

How do part-time videographers typically balance multiple projects and deadlines while working with different clients?

Part-time videographers often juggle several projects at once, which requires strong organizational and time management skills. It's common to work with a variety of clients, each with unique expectations and timelines, so effective communication and setting clear deliverables are essential. Many part-time videographers use project management tools to schedule shoots, track edits, and coordinate with clients or collaborators. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as schedules can change based on client needs or unforeseen circumstances like weather and event timing.

Is AI going to replace videographers?

AI technology is increasingly used to assist videographers by automating tasks like editing, color correction, and scene analysis, but it is unlikely to fully replace the creative and technical skills required for videography. Human videographers bring artistic judgment, storytelling ability, and adaptability that AI cannot replicate entirely. Therefore, videographers who develop skills in editing software and stay current with technological advancements will continue to be valuable in the industry.
