In this role, you will combine community outreach, program leadership, and direct advocacy to create meaningful change every day. As our part-time Victim Assistance Coordinator, you will earn $19.59 to $23.60 per hour.
ABOUT THIS VICTIM ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR ROLE
You'll maintain a dependable part-time schedule, working between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
You take on a dynamic and highly visible role, engaging with both individuals and the broader community to strengthen victim services. You lead outreach efforts by presenting to community groups, hosting training for law enforcement, and representing the program at public events. You help shape the program's success by preparing reports for county leadership and actively recruiting and developing a network of volunteer advocates through interviews, onboarding, and ongoing training. You oversee volunteer performance by assigning caseloads, monitoring progress, and offering feedback and recognition. At the same time, you provide direct support by assessing victims' safety needs, creating safety plans, and advocating for their rights within the justice system. You act as a key connector between agencies, ensuring communication is clear and services are coordinated to support successful outcomes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma; plus, specialized training in victim assistance program management and operations
AND
- 2+ years of experience in victim advocate setting or related human services area
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of crisis intervention theory and techniques, sexual/physical abuse principles, child and adult protection services, social service systems (legal, court, medical, and referral sources), State of Utah laws/regulations regarding victim's rights, procedures of the justice system
- Some knowledge of legal proceedings and legal terminology
- Skills to use personal computers and various software applications
- Ability to operate office equipment including copy machine, fax machine, etc.
- Know and act appropriately within the position boundaries and boundaries set by victim rights laws and victim advocate ethics
- Ability to respond and refer quickly, appropriately and effectively in crisis situations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to receive and appropriately maintain confidential materials and information
- Ability to work with individuals from a range of economic and social experiences as well as state, county, and city officials
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with area service providers
- Possessing a certification in Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence is preferred
- Completion of Utah Victim Assistance Academy training is a plus
